GOP Insiders Fear Kamala Harris

Great story this week from a writer of that far-right rag, The Washington Examiner. I do not read that pile of dung. I got this from Vanity Fair, the employer of none other than the great Charlie Pierce, a favorite of readers here at the Daily Kos. So…

The article I am going to reference is a fascinating read. It’s not long and you should read every word. There is another diary here on Kos that you should also view, called "The Main Who Beat Obama: Kamala don't coddle and she don't Ignore" which will give more insight into the abilities of this amazing woman.

Now, I have not picked anyone yet. Truthfully, I have been leaning towards Elizabeth Warren because she is simply the smartest person in the room. However, our last candidate ran circles regarding intelligence around the eventual resident in the White House, so I am thinking we might need more than just smarts to beat Cheetolini and his minions in 2020. Ms. Harris might be a great choice in this regard.

The first paragraph of any article should have a great impact on the reader and this one does…

About the time Kamala Harris finished slicing and dicing Joe Biden, like Ed Valentidemonstrating a Ginsu knife, my cell phone started pinging with Republican operatives saying, in effect, “I told you so.”

“SHE’S DANGEROUS”: GOP INSIDERS FEAR KAMALA COULD BE THE NEXT OBAMA

by David M. Drucker, Vanity Fair, 7/25/2019

The article goes on to detail exactly what her appeal is and how she intends to use it. It pointed out some flaws in her approach, but also found that they could be dealt with.

“She made a mistake with private health care,” this Republican operative conceded, referring to Harris’s serial flip-flops on Medicare for All and whether her plans for overhauling health care would lead to the abolition of private insurance. “But she doesn’t come across as a nutjob.”

I really can’t quote anymore here without violating fair use. The article is short and won’t take long to peruse. Suffice it to say, he makes that case that Sen. Kamala Harris is a butt-kicking candidate who can appeal to suburban soccer moms: a key demographic we will need to reverse the decline of the Trump years. We need smart, but we also need someone to kick-ass.
