Yeah, about IBD and Rasmussen...

Most polls show Hillary Clinton leading quite handily in the presidential race this year.

There are two, however, that seem to be telling a different story: Investor’s Business Daily and Rasmussen Reports.

Now, as for Rasmussen, you don’t need to go far to find out how biased they are. Just Google “Rasmussen conservative bias” and you will find a treasure trove of information.

Investor’s Business Daily is a bit of a different story. Nate Silver said this about them in 2012, right after the presidential election.

Among the more prolific polling firms, the most accurate by this measure was TIPP, which conducted a national tracking poll for Investors’ Business Daily.

And the crowds went wild…

Who's going to win? At the moment the most reliable poll in recent history is giving a slight edge to the guy who fires up fanatics for free.

Yeah, um, I think you need to talk to Ben White at CNBC about this.

Opinion writers have been telling us about how Investor’s Business Daily (otherwise known as IBD) is one of the most reputable polling outfits around.

According to Ben White of CNBC, not so much…

Do a quick Google search and you will find scores of articles in which conservatives clung to the IBD poll showing Romney ahead in 2012 while other surveys showed the race trending inexorably to the incumbent president.

...

IBD also performed badly in 2008, suggesting Republican nominee John McCain had a large lead among younger voters. Obama won this group handily. As late as Nov. 2, 2008, IBD had Obama up just 2 points over McCain. He won by 7 points and carried 365 electoral votes, a landslide in the current highly partisan era.

“What a Trump wipeout could mean for Hillary Clinton's presidential mandate” by Ben White, CNBC.com 10/24/2016

If you look at this page, you will find that IBD consistently underrepresented President Obama in 2012. They basically waffled around 1% for months. At one point in October, they had Romney by +5, that was even more conservative than Rasmussen, which had Romney at +2 that same week. (That’s the poll Ben was referring to that conservatives clung on.) And it’s harder than hell to find anything from them in August or September.

Their last poll (from 11/5 to 11/7) was Obama +1. What guts they had!

And now? Clinton is up +1 in their latest poll, along with the wonderful L.A. Times poll that everyone here rolls their eyes over.

It seems to me that all IBD is trying to do is play it safe so that they can get more cash in future election cycles. Or, like Zogby, they got it close once and have been trying to ride the reputation for all that they can get.

Meanwhile, GET OUT AND VOTE!!!
